Four Years Later...

When I first joined Second Life, it was just a simple time filler for me, something to do between filling out job applications. I actually entered with the hopes of finding work since CareerBuilder.com had a sim in SL. I figured if no one wanted to meet me in person, maybe they'd accept my avatar. Within a couple weeks I had made friends and joined groups with common interests. I found love a couple of times, one made it to RL, the other didn't. In the end, neither relationship lasted, but I regret nothing because it taught me more about myself and what I seek in a partner. I've had friends come and go; some just move on to real life, some just lose touch, and others are sadly departed from both worlds. The ones I still see and speak with regularly I appreciate and love dearly. People call Second Life a game, but I'd like to think that if I ever met some of the people I connected with on a virtual level, that we could become better friends on a real one. Who knows where the next year of Second Life will take me. I might find love again. I'm sure I'll make more friends. Hopefully I'll find a stable real life job to help support my SL shopping habit, but for now my SL occupations do just enough. Most of all, I hope to find joy in whatever I do. Here's to turning 4!

Little Secret Garden

Fantasy Faire will soon be upon us with imaginative delights from science fiction to fairy tales. You don't have to be a role player to appreciate this event which is a part of the many upcoming Relay for Life fairs in Second Life. Now while I don't know the full details on what to expect just yet, I do happen to know that Evie's Closet will of course be there. The outfit I model now is not a preview of what she'll sell for the event, however it is a sneak peek of things to come to Evie's Closet. Available now is the adorable furniture set from Mole End, featuring a tiny leaf chair, cozy bed and an oak table. You'll feel right at home in this miniature set that is a pixie's dream.

Furniture currently available at Evie's Closet. Outfit is a freebie from the Petite Avatar Kingdom, which is a great place to discover merchants who create petite merchandise.

Finesmith Fantasy

Of all the various style genres, fantasy is by far my favorite. There are no limits to what you can create, and you're free to be whatever creature you'd like. Mermaids are so beautiful that I couldn't resist the opportunity to style one for Finesmith. Thanks to the 50% off sale going on right now, I was able to bedazzle myself in the most fantastical way imaginable. If you haven't been there yet, I suggest you teleport to the mainstore now before the sale ends.

This mermaid was created with the following sets from Finesmith Designs:
Sense of Snow
Wired Couture
Yeriak Inspiration
Oasis
Optimism Earrings

Mer Tail: Evie's Closet
Skin and Hair: Amacci

coldLogic Comfort

As models, sometimes you tend to fall into a comfort zone. You don't try as hard. You feel ok with simply coasting. After all, as long as no one objects, you must be doing something right, right? Well here's the thing about staying in the comfort zone. It's boring, which means you become boring. It's natural to progress and grow but that is only possible by leaving the familiar and embracing the new. Right now I'm embracing the new release from coldLogic called Castillo. It reminds me of light, breezy days where you'd wear nothing but a simple shirt and lounge around the house with a good book. Also I am rapidly becoming a fan of Exile's mesh hair collection, especially this one called Rumor Has It. If you're not on a mesh viewer--get on one! This stuff is too good to miss inworld!

Crazy for Paisley at Colour of Couture

Now I know what you're thinking. I must have lost my mind to enter another pageant so soon after the last one. However, I feel this one will be a welcome challenge on many levels. The Colour of Couture competition is open to female avatars representing Ebony, Hispanic or Asian cultures. Often times these groups are overlooked in other contests or fashion ads since they are in the minority. I've entered numerous competitions, and it is very hurtful when you feel overlooked because of your skin color. I am determined to represent the models who proudly choose to remain true to their ethnic background and not cave into pressure to lighten their tones to appear more fashionable. I am also representing the models who have remained true to their heritage without a title behind them and continue to do so despite the hardships. I do not seek anything more than equal recognition and representation of models of all ethnicities in every facet of SL fashion. This is not just about a title for me. This is about showing how beautiful, eloquent and intelligent women of color are, and that we should not have to play the token roles in contests.
